- Have you ever wished that you could FEEL your connection to the universe rather than just visualize it? The mysteries of the universe is a vast topic for exploration. As in Hamlet, to go to that ‘undiscovered country’ or like Star Trek, ‘to boldly go where no man has gone before.”
Delving deeper into the quantum physics and astro-physics has developed some astonishing theories. The most important is that everything that is, science can be defined by mathematical equations and geometry. Astro-physicicst Michio Kaku says he looks at things in terms of equations. Mass, volume, energy and all the dimensions and inter-dimensions that we cannot see, but exist. A Theory of Everything?
The superstring theory can explain the mysterious quantum laws of sub-atomic physics by postulating that sub-atomic particles are really just resonances or vibrations of a tiny string. The vibrations of a violin string correspond to musical notes; likewise the vibrations of a superstring correspond to the particles found in nature. The universe is then a symphony of vibrating strings. An added bonus is that, as a string moves in time, it warps the fabric of space around it, producing black holes, wormholes, and other exotic solutions of Einstein’s equations. Thus, in one stroke, the superstring theory unites both the theory of Einstein and quantum physics into one coherent, compelling picture.
So as we explore that superstring theory, the concept that earth itself is connected with its own grid of geometric strings that somehow maintain the gravitational pull. These can be defined as ley lines or energy lines within the Earth’s crust. Ley lines, or Leys, are alignments of ancient sites stretching across the landscape. Ancient sites or holy places may be situated in a straight line ranging from one or two to several miles in length. A ley may be identified simply by an aligned placing of marker sites, or it might be visible on the ground for all or part of its length by the remnants of an old straight track.
Ley Lines were 're-discovered' on 30 June 1921 by Alfred Watkins(1855-1935), a locally well-known and respected Herefordshire businessman, who while looking at a map for features of interest noticed a straight line that passed over hill tops through various points of interest, all of which were ancient. At the time of his discovery, Watkins had no theory about alignments but on that June afternoon saw "in a flash" a whole pattern of lines stretching across the landscape. Four years later, in 1925, he described his vision in a book he titled The Old Straight Track.
But to put this into perspective with String Theory, I feel that there is a geometrical patterning that is elemental to the design of our earth and universe. Leonardo Da Vinci was passionate about geometry. Some biographers say it was his first love and it became evident in his work as an engineer, artist, and inventor. He began to unravel the mysteries of the universe—even the anatomy of our bodies.
It may be a stretch to connect String Theory to the geometrical Ley Lines that exist in the make up of our Earth’s crust. Some new age theorists have done a lot of research on a geometric pattern they call the Flower of Life. It is a pattern of 19 circles that are interconnected and in a three-dimensional sphere, form a complex series of geometrical designs of polyhedrons. They claim this sacred geometry, is based on ancient esoteric teachings given around the world for thousands of years. These teachings, based on sacred geometry, illustrate for the left brain how there is truly only one consciousness, one spirit, one God, and that we are all part of that oneness. The Flower of Life is a universal template with many lenses. When placed over the face of a common or ordinary circle or sphere, the Flower of Life maps a window into the unity of infinity and turns the ordinary into a revelation of the extraordinary.
Looking into the window of the Flower of Life challenges us to unify our mind, heart, and spirit. When we can truly see all life woven so intimately, we strengthen the embrace of the divine in our lives and we can transform our world through the vision of universal unity. This energy created by combining the dimensions of these patterns can supposedly integrate the left brain (mind) and the right brain (heart/feeling/intuition) into a fluid understanding of the cosmos that is not only intellectually understood but also tangibly experienced. These teachings help inspire individuals to remember who they really are and to find the courage to expand beyond their limited views of themselves. Each human has a unique talent which, when discovered, nurtured, and truly lived, changes our own personal world. By living that pure true self beyond our limited beliefs, we slowly change the world around us into an experience of higher intention, greater freedom and possibility.
So what does any of this have to do with the practical application of our every day lives? Well back in early 2003 I somehow found myself fascinated with the concept of Ley Lines. I realized that where there were intersections in these lines, ancient civilizations build healing structures, like Stonehenge. When I looked into this further, I coincidentally became acauinted with someone who lived at an origin point of a Ley Line. He knew nothing of this coincidence, but it was something I was drawn to. The very site of his home was one of the origin points in West Seattle. There had been a mapping of the ley lines of the area. The Seattle Arts Commission gave $5,000 to a group of New Age dowsers, the Geo Group, to do a ley line map of Seattle. Photographs of the result, which looks like a defaced satellite photo of the Seattle area, can be purchased for $7.00 from the group. It proudly proclaims that the "project made Seattle the first city on Earth to balance and tune its ley-line system." The Arts Commission has been criticized by skeptical citizens for funding a New Age, pagan sect, but the artwork continues to be displayed on a rotating basis in city-owned buildings within Seattle.
Citizens had every right to be skeptical. Here is what the Geo Group has to say about their project:
The vision of the Seattle Ley-Line Project is to heal the Earth energies within the Seattle city limits by identifying ley-line power centers in Seattle, neutralizing negative energies and then amplifying the positive potential of the ley-line power centers. We believe the result will be a decrease in disease and anxiety, an increased sense of wholeness and well-being and the achievement of Seattle's potential as a center of power.
I feel the geometry of the flower of life and ley lines are somehow connected as a blueprint for the way our earth is constructed.
